Supporting Frail People: Understanding Frailty and Deprescribing
Monday, 24 February 2020, 6:30 pm, Staffordshire
Frail patients are often more susceptible to side effects of medicines and may experience falls, incontinence, delirium and immobility. They tend not to recover as well from events such as infections or starting a new medicine and are frequent users of the healthcare system. (Wilkinson, 2020, Failing the Frailest. Pharmaceutical Journal. Vol 304, No 7933, online).
Join RPS in Shropshire and Staffordshire on Monday 24 Febraury to learn more about frailty and how you can best support patients.
After attending this event, you will be able to:
» Explain the concept of frailty as a syndrome;
» Understand the implication of frailty on healthcare systems;
» Recognise common strategies for the management of frailty including deprescribing.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to put your questions to our expert speaker James Rushton, Consultant Nurse Prescriber.
The event is free-of-charge for RPS Members and £20 for non-members. We recommend all local pharmacists working in community, hospital and primary care settings attend.
